The BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to deliver a range of cancer services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates four regional cancer centres in the Fraser Valley, Kelowna, Vancouver and Vancouver Island, with a fifth centre opening in Abbotsford in summer 2008 and a sixth centre scheduled to open in Prince George in 2012. The BC Cancer Research Centre conducts research into the causes and cures for cancer. Pharmacoeconomics Pharmacist BC Cancer Agency Provincial Pharmacy Regular Full-time Vancouver, British Columbia As a strong communicator operating in a collaborative environment, you will conduct oncology pharmacoeconomic evaluations and population-based budget calculations for the Systemic Therapy Program. You will serve on the Priorities and Evaluation Committee, providing cost effectiveness data for Systemic Therapy Program proposals, evaluating potential treatment benefits and prioritizing new treatment program requests. Other health care professionals throughout BC, including Health Services and Provincial Pharmacy staff, will look to you for assistance with conducting and reviewing research. You will coordinate the "Undesignated Request" process for BC, as well as teach and train pharmacists, pharmacy students and other members of the interdisciplinary team in oncology practices and pharmacoeconomics. You have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as a post-graduate doctor of pharmacy degree from an accredited university and four years of recent related experience, including experience in oncology and drug usage evaluation. As well, you have completed a hospital residency program and are currently licensed with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Proficient with computers, you know how to use computerized pharmacy and database systems, and relevant software applications, such as Word and Excel. You also demonstrate knowledge of quality improvement principles. As a strong team player, you can effectively deal with all members and level of the Agency's health care team, patients and their family members, the public and external health care professionals.
