Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province-wide health care services across BC. PHSA Laboratories is a premier provider of laboratory medicine and pathology services in British Columbia supporting the Agencies of PHSA, community patients, other BC hospitals and out -of - province facilities. The dedicated staff of PHSA Laboratories provide acute diagnostic testing and interpretation for our physicians as well as unique and specialized testing for clients who recognize our expertise in specialty areas. Together with our clients, our goal is a partnership that will provide superior quality diagnostic, prevention and treatment information that will improve patient care today and in the future.

The Children's & Women's Health Centre of British Columbia (C&W), an agency of the PHSA, is a world renowned health-care facility, strategically affiliated with the University of British Columbia (UBC). It encompasses four of Canada's top teaching and research health facilities - British Columbia's Children's Hospital, British Columbia's Women's Hospital and Health Centre, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children, and the Child and Family Research Institute. C&W is a tertiary care referral hospital which serves a local population of two million people, and a provincial population of four million.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Children's and Women's Health Centre of British Columbia, invites applications for a full time position in Clinical Biochemistry. The Department requires a Clinical Biochemist to join a team of MD and PhD laboratory specialists responsible for prenatal screening, trace element and heavy metal testing, routine and special chemistry, sample collection and point of care testing in the tertiary/quaternary centre for pediatrics, obstetrics and women's health for British Columbia. The candidate should hold a MD or PhD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or special training in pediatric and obstetric Clinical Biochemistry. Administrative experience or interest would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be recommended for appointment to the University of British Columbia (UBC), in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at an academic or clinical rank dependent on experience and qualifications. UBC and its affiliates hire on the basis of merit and are committed to employment equity.
