Duties Include But Are Not Limited To: Patient Care: Manages the physical environment of the patient care unit; Identify and verify patient, condition, surgical procedure and surgeon; Evaluate patient condition formulating anesthetic plan and assigning ASAPS including type of anesthesia and appropriate agents, obtaining consent from patient or legal guardian for anesthesia; Assemble necessary equipment, verifying it is in working condition, and have pharmacological agents immediately available; Introduce intravenous lines on all anesthesia patients and arterial lines when indicated. Apply monitoring equipment as necessary with a minimum of NIBP; oximeter and ECG Administer and maintain anesthesia at required levels with types of anesthesia being general, regional and MAC paying close attention to patient position to prevent nerve injury; Monitors and directs utilization of supplies and other resources related to the anesthetic care of the patient; Accompany patient to post anesthesia recovery area (recovery room, ICU, patient room) giving full account of patient condition to appropriate personnel Effectively communicates pertinent information to appropriate individuals; Participates in time out procedure for each case, complying with PCH policy and procedure; ensures patient / family receive appropriate healthcare education and instruction for discharge. Documentation: Maintain complete record of care and patient condition recording all pertinent data on anesthesia record; Maintain accurate narcotic records; Accurately record all charges as mandated by Fiscal Services. Orientation: Participates in the orientation of new employees. Other: Assist in departmental chores (ordering supplies, pharmaceutical agents, and cleaning equipment); Serve on committees as requested by administration; Request repairs on equipment as needed; Assist in outlying hospital areas with IV insertion and intubations when consulted. Working relationship: Maintains positive working relationship with coworker and physicians; Monitors performance of staff assigned to team and coaches as appropriate; demonstrates and promotes professionalism. Position Qualifications: • Virginia RN License, RN graduate; Anesthesia Certificate AANA certification; CPR & ACLS required: • 3 years hospital experience Preferred Please Apply Online! Posting
