Description:
An enthusiastic individual, you'll report
to the Manager, Communications and Consulting Services
of the Provincial Language Service, providing confidential
administrative and logistical support to the program
areas within the department.
You'll carry out the day-to-day activities of the program area, including appointment, meeting and event coordination; preparing and processing documents, files, invoices and information; managing office support systems; and supporting relevant committees, stakeholders and customers. By following established policies, standards and procedures, you'll provide efficient and effective administrative support to senior team members and program activities, including consulting and communication projects and initiatives. In addition, you'll also apply time management and organizational skills to support the coordination of multiple program requirements and the maintenance of workflow and timelines related to projects and initiatives. You possess a level of education, training and experience equivalent to a diploma in an appropriate discipline related to Business Administration, Communications, or Community Development and a minimum of four years recent related experience. Experience working with multi-partner initiatives, research projects and in a dynamic and customer-focused environment is preferable. You have demonstrated ability to use related equipment including data base, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software at an advanced level. Specifically, you are able to use the full Microsoft suite of programs including Visio and Power Point. In addition, you have a design background with strong layout and design skills, including the ability to use InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Adobe PageMaker would be an asset. You are customer-service focused with the ability to successfully communicate both verbally and in writing. You have experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a supportive manner. As a strong team player, you are able to execute on communication plans, employ strong writing and proof-reading skills, and support departmental programs and projects with resourcefulness and focus. Experience in community development, or community-based work or related fields (international development, multiculturalism), knowledge of a second language and experience working in a multicultural environment would all be assets.
