PURPOSE: To assist the Director and the Medical Staff by contributing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards applicable to Medical Staff Services relating to credentialing, medical staff bylaws, quality and peer review. To establish standards of performance for staff and to provide direct supervision and oversight of Medical Staff Coordinators in the performance of their responsibilities. To assist the Director in the development and implementation of the peer review and physician performance improvement process. Knowledge: Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a thorough knowledge of medical staff services functions and procedures; JCAHO standards; requirements of regulatory agencies; a working knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of the functions of other Hospital departments; and a basic knowledge of computer operating systems and word processing. Skills: Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is to posses excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent organizational, analytical and management skills. Also required is flexibility, the ability to adapt quickly, to be able to work with all types of individuals in a collegial and cooperative manner. Incumbent must have a clear understanding and be dedicated to the mission and vision of Texas Children's Hospital. Formal Education And Experience: The formal education normally associated with completely satisfactory performance in this job is a minimum of a Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred). A minimum of 4 years experience as a medical staff services professional, and CPMSM and/or CPCS certification with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
