To provide speech therapy services to patients/clients, including assessment, treatment program planning, goal setting and implementation, patient education, related documentation and communication in accordance with the ethics of the American Speech-Language, Hearing Association, JCAHO, and Poudre Valley Health System. Diagnoses and assesses speech, language, cognitive and swallowing competencies. Speech Rehab position plans, directs and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to facilitate cognitive, communication and swallow function of individuals. Provides education and guidance to patients and their families. Acts as a consultant to educational, medical and other professional groups. Teaches scientific principles of human development regarding communication, cognition and swallowing.

Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders. Demonstrates high degree of speech intelligibility. Prefer at least one to three years of experience in an acute inpatient setting. Prefer at least one year acute care experience in the areas of neurology and dysphasia, with and without vents and tracks. Demonstrates competency in conducting Modified Barium Swallows independently. Demonstrates basic knowledge and competency in the use of equipment before allowed to utilize. Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association or evidence of eligibility. Obtains CPR certification within two months of hire and maintains certification thereafter.
