On behalf of The Emory Clinic, we are seeking a strategic, results-oriented individual to join a renowned clinical organization, to implement a key initiative and transformation strategy- with the objective to be "Best in Class". The Emory Clinic (TEC) is the academic faculty practice for Emory Healthcare (EHC), the health services arm of Emory University and its renowned School of Medicine. The Emory Clinic is recognized as one of the largest and best run faculty practice plans in the country with its mission focused on providing high quality patient and family focused care. In 2008, TEC will provide over 2 million patient visits in 75 locations and within 38 specialty sections, with a staff of 1100 physicians and 2239 employees. Clinic facilities are located across the Atlanta metro area and a broad region of North and Central Georgia. In Fall 2006, the Ideal Patient and Family Experience initiative was commissioned by the Emory Clinic's Governing Board to redesign Patient Access and Ambulatory Care processes and systems. This Clinic wide initiative is a foundational step to provide an outstanding patient experience from both clinical and services perspectives; and to prepare The Clinic for a move into a 479,000 square foot ambulatory care facility by 2012. The methodologies being used to facilitate the projects include Lean and Six Sigma. The Director of Operations-Ambulatory Care is a newly created position that will report to the Chief Operating Officer of The Emory Clinic. As a key member of The Clinic's management team, the Director will work in close partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Operations and Chief Quality Officer for TEC. The Director will Co-Chair the CARE team, and will be a member of the Clinic Operations Group, comprised of the Clinic's senior management team. Responsibilities will be to direct the teams' continuing design and implementation efforts, and to ensure that adequate systems are established for staff training and competency in the ambulatory environment. The Director will have budgetary and oversight responsibility for Medical Records, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and the Department of Special Clinical Services. The ideal candidate must have a Masters degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Public Health or related discipline. He/she may have a business/administrative or clinical background. At least 10 years of operations and financial management experience preferably in a large multi-specialty ambulatory setting at an academic medical center, teaching hospital or professional practice is required. A thorough understanding of interdisciplinary clinic processes and operations, and a working knowledge of the mission of an academic medical center is essential. Significant background and experience in service excellence, performance/quality improvement methodology, Lean or Six Sigma and work flow design is highly desirable.
