Reaction which is primarily a result of members being
deployed.
Length of Assignment: 2 years Description of Project or Company/Organization: As a key partner with the Department of National Defence, Calian is the employer of choice for civilian health care professionals. Through our Health Service Support Contract, Calian professionals work in partnership with military healthcare teams at more than 30 Canadian Forces Bases across Canada. Job Description: The Psychiatrist is responsible for the provision of mental health care within the Mental Health program of the Canadian Forces, to CF members and to other entitled members as per the Spectrum of Care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Providing clinical leadership and consultation to mental health staff in the provision of mental health care to patients. - Providing psychiatric consultation, follow-up and recommendations for patient case management, treatment modalities, medication management, therapeutic progress and recommendations regarding employment limitations. - Motivating health care team and patients to perform at their optimum. - Assisting in the identification, development and evolution of mental health programming. - Is responsible for maintaining and conducting practice in accordance with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Canadian Psychiatry Association's Standards of Practice. - Documenting interactions with clients in accordance with the principles of professional practice. - Collecting and forwarding of pertinent workload data to the Program Administrative Support for mental health services - Participating in program orientation and provides information to external inquiries as required. - Participating in clinic meetings including client consultations and clinic administration. - Providing or collaborating to provide a learning environment for patients and staff. Mandatory Qualifications: - Graduate of an accredited university with a degree in Medicine with acceptable specialization in Psychiatry. - Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. - Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario - Current BCLS certification.
