Senior Scientist, Radiochemistry and Functional Cancer Imaging Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology BC Cancer Agency's Research Centre Regular Full-Time The British Columbia Cancer Agency (BCCA) and the Department of Radiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) are jointly seeking a highly qualified individual as a Senior Scientist (BCCA) and an Assistant Professor, grant tenure track (UBC), to develop a research program at the BCCA designed around new positron-emitting probes for cancer detection and characterization. The applicant will be expected to participate in the research, development and preparation of positron emitting radiopharmaceuticals and supervise the staff conducting routine radiopharmaceutical production. The applicant will also teach and supervise undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students and educate staff on new related developments, techniques and procedures. The applicant must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching. The person applying for this position should have some expertise in organic chemistry, radiochemistry and a good understanding of the requirement for radiopharmaceutical production, including good manufacturing practice requirements for human use. The applicant should have a PhD in chemistry, radiopharmaceutical chemistry or a closely related field; a minimum of six years of post-doctoral and/or work experience in radiochemistry with positron emitters and expertise in radiolabelling peptides, organic macromolecules and receptor binding radiopharmaceuticals with positron emitters. The Department of Radiology plays an active role in the delivery of health care in the province of British Columbia and in the training of students at the medical undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
