Description Phoenix Children's Hospital is the only specialty children's hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state's largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose: Performs a variety of clinical laboratory procedures to evaluated and determine reliability of test results and provide data for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. Work Environment: Activities are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled laboratory setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking; regular exposure to a variety of chemicals, blood borne pathogens, infectious materials, acids and toxic reagents. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer equipment, laboratory analytical instruments, scales, and equipment; bending, lifting, reaching, stooping and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see and hear to perform essential duties. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or closely related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. 2. ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification. 3. Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions. 4. Effective human relation and communication skills are essential, as this position will interface with physician, staff, and other members of the health care profession. Posting
