Description: Provides Orthopedic support services to clinic patients. Supports the Orthopedic surgeons in their clinical, surgical and other patient care responsibilities.

Job Details:

General Summary:
Proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment.

Duties and Job Responsibilities:
* Applies, adjusts and removes plaster casts, splints, braces, etc.
* Assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician.
* Maintains department supplies, inventory/par levels and ordering for the Orthopedic Casting area.
* Assists Radiology staff in placement of special needs patients
* Responsible for coordinating and arranging for special durable medical equipment (DME) orders which may also require referring the patient to a third-party vendor.
* May assist with cast application as needed on an inpatient unit per physician request.

Knowledge And Skills:
Minimum computer skills, familiarity with all Orthopedic instrumentation, equipment, hardward and procedures. Knowledge of basic aseptic technique and an ability to do basic casting, splinting and hardware maintenance.

Education:
High School/GED plus completion of Orthopedic Technician training.

Experience:
1-2 years of orthopedic related experience

Licensure/Certification/Other:
-Required: Certification as an OTC (Orthopedic Technician Certified)
