Responsible for the operational management
and administration of those activities which promote
the delivery of safe, efficient, and therapeutically
effective care by an ambulatory care nursing staff.
General Description: These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Education And Or Training Required: B.S.N. from an accredited School of Nursing. Licensure And Or Certification: License to practice professional Nursing in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia; CPR certification, and PALS certification. Experience: Five years of nursing experience, inclusive of at least 2 years of supervisory and 2 years of outpatient pediatric experience. Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of management and nursing organizational theory to supervise the operation of the nursing staff. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff; Knowledge of the principles of budgeting. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in identifying problems, and researching, and recommending resolutions. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patient, medical staff, and the public. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others.
