Description:
Duke University Health System, a progressive
facility located in the heart of North Carolina, currently
has full-time positions available for Orthopaedic Technician.
This
position is responsible for fabrication and removal
of Orthopaedics cast and splints; application of Orthopaedic
devices, to include but not limited to prefabricated
products and external electrical stimulators; removal
of external Orthopaedic hardware, to include but not
limited to external fixators, halo devices and pins.
Responsible for developing education materials related
to above and educating the patient in relation to the
above. Responsible for participation in the clinical
team to assist the providers in the care of the patients,
including but not limited to maintaining patient flow,
removal and application of sterile and non-sterile
dressings, wound care, removal of wound closure materials
(staples, sutures, etc), patient education, and preparing
medications for the providers, under the supervision
of a physician. Maintains appropriate in inventory
of Orthopaedic supplies and equipment.
Requirements:
Prefer someone who was in the military service
as a medic or corpsman that also went through the Orthopaedic
training for servicemen or a Certified Medical Assistant
that has had at least 3 years of working with Orthopaedics
and solid casting and orthopaedic appliance skills.
Prefer candidates with casting experience.
