Will provides acute and rehabilitative care for patients of all ages including the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract and integumentary systems. This includes patients with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure ulcers, traumatic, diabetic and vascular wounds and incontinence.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Must serve as consultants in the management of patients with complicted wounds and fistulas.

2. Will function as primary patient educators for all patients undergoing ostomy surgery as well as a resource person for patients who have had previous surgery.

3. Provides recommendations for the effective and appropriate use of specialty beds, wound care products and ostomy supplies.

4. Will serve as consultants and educator in the treatment of patients with altered skin integrity for nursing staff, physicians, administration and other disciplines to augment and support education services.

5. Must participate in studies that will increase optimal patient care regarding selective disorders.

6. Provides Outpatient Education with physician referral for patients with pouching problems or with skin problems related to the ostomy.

Qualifications
1. Graduate from professional nursing program.
2. Graduated from an Accredited School of Enterostomal Therapy.
3. Or Post Graduate course in Enterostomal Therapy.
4. Six to twelve months recent clinical experience.

Minimum License and Certificates Required:
Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
