Description:
Provides nursing and medical services to patients
according to the Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners
as identified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
and the State of California.
Assumes an expanded role in providing high-quality primary health care with an emphasis in specific areas of health promotion, illness prevention, and health restoration. Defines pre-placement, periodic, return-to-work, and medical examinations. Facilitates determination of appropriate accommodations, and necessary clinical follow-up with management and Human Resources. Ensures all clinical findings and follow-up recommendations, and re-evaluations are followed and acted upon. Assesses and follow-up work related injuries supporting and working with Worker's Compensation carrier and risk management. Provides support management of issues related to ergonomics. Supports all efforts from management to implement and train health care programs. Promotes zero accident tolerance standard of safety. Leads and/or participates in the development of guidelines, protocols, and other performance improvement activities. Requirements/Experience: Master of Nursing Degree required. Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License. Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered. Nursing as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code. National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Current NP Furnishing License/DEA license. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Maximum of three years as a licensed and certified NP in acute care setting or Occupational Health. Employee Health and/or occupational medicine experience preferred. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Demonstrates commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues. Physical Demands: Perceptive acuity and physical ability to perform all direct and indirect patient care functions including walking, sitting, standing, bending, and lifting.
