Richmond State Hospital has served persons with mental illness since 1890. The Hospital sits on a pristine 100-acre campus and is composed of five service lines that provide care to adults and adolescents with chronic mental illness and, in many cases, co-occurring substance abuse. Recent additions to the campus include the Residential Treatment Center, which opened in 1992. This building contains 192 patient bedrooms, dining room, activity room and a medical clinic. The Clinical Treatment Center was opened in August 2002. The Clinical Treatment Center emphasizes active treatment using the treatment mall approach, which includes multiple classrooms, social area, gymnasium, dental clinic, laboratory and pharmacy.

Richmond State Hospital has maintained accreditation from The Joint Commission since 1986 and the recent June 2007 survey earned Richmond State Hospital accreditation through 2010.

Please consider this opportunity to join a medical staff of seven psychiatrists. Board certification or board eligibility required. Candidates with a forensic or addiction fellowship or certification attractive.
Experience in treating adults with severe and persistent mental illness preferred. You will be assigned to a service line based on your area of expertise and preference.

The cooperative spirit amongst your multi-disciplinary team of peer recovery specialists, psychologists, social service specialists, dieticians, rehabilitation therapy staff, substance abuse counselors, and RNs allows you to make a difference in the lives of a challenging and diverse patient population. You will find more time for treatment planning and active treatment, since Indiana's commitment clause requires that your patients present themselves with complete paperwork thus streamlining the admissions process.

In this relaxed, low-pressure environment you will have a set schedule Monday - Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm. Weekday call of approximately 2-3 nights per month (5:00 pm - 8:00 am) is rotated amongst the psychiatrists and compensated in addition to a competitive salary and comprehensive State benefits.
