Rhematologist
A board certified/eligible
rheumatologist is needed to develop a dedicated Rheumatology
service at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare-Mayo Health
System in La Crosse, WI. The new full-time rheumatologist
will join one of our internists whose practice is a
mix of general internal medicine and rheumatology.
The Rheumatology position will not include general
Internal Medicine call responsibility. We have eight
general internists, six who have a traditional full-scope
Internal Medicine practice and two who only see clinic
patients. We recently started a Hospitalist Program
as well as a dedicated Critical Care service.
Franciscan
Skemp Healthcare is a multispecialty group/healthcare
network, part of Mayo Health System, with more than
200 physicians/associate providers, serving a primary
care population base of 240,000. Rheumatology patients
will be referred by providers within our health system,
including the La Crosse-Mayo Family Medicine Residency
Program. Referrals will also come from independent
physicians within 60 miles of La Crosse. In addition
to its main clinic/hospital in La Crosse, WI, Franciscan
Skemp Healthcare has two other small community hospitals
in WI and eleven other clinics located in WI, MN and
IA within a 60-mile radius of La Crosse. Outreach services
will likely be a part of the practice.
The
Medical Center in La Crosse has 250 beds, Emergency
Medical & Trauma Center staffed 24 hours by Emergency
Medicine physicians, a 16-bed ICU/CCU and cardiac cath
lab. Full diagnostic lab and radiology services are
available on site. The clinic facility is connected
to the hospital. A Center for Advanced Medicine &
Surgery (CAMS building) was completed in July 2004,
which includes new high-tech OR suites, Day Surgery
Unit and a comprehensive Cancer Center, including chemotherapy
and radiation oncology. A Mayo-Renal Dialysis Unit
and a new Integrative Therapy service, along with primary
care and other specialty services, are located at our
new regional Onalaska Clinic, which is directly north
of La Crosse.
