Description:
Trinity Medical Center - A registered nurse
responsible for delivery of patient care through the
process of assessment, planning, implementation and
evaluation. Guides the activities of personnel while
maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Essential Duties 1. Utilizes the Nursing Process to include an ongoing systematic patient assessment from triage to discharge for the Emergency Department patient. 2. Ability to assess, treat, and care for patients with unique needs in age groups that include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients to include appropriate utilization of resource staff (i.e., LDR Staff, NICU, Pediatric Staff). 3. Implements life saving procedures associated with emergency patients as indicated. 4. Assigns patient charges in accordance with level of care provided and procedures performed. QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job. Education and formal training: 1. Completion of a Critical Care Course at St. Joseph Hospital or documentation of equivalent course is required. Validation of competency is required by score of 80% or better on Basic Knowledge Assessment Test. 2. ACLS is required and should be completed within 1year after working in the unit or 1 year after successful completion of the CCU course, and renewed as required by AHA. 3. BCLS required. 4. PALS encouraged. 5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) is strongly encouraged. 6. Completion of Skills Lab Competency Assessment. WORK EXPERIENCE One year experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility in the area of Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing is preferred. Previous critical care, Emergency Department experience is desirable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Analytical skills are necessary for arrhythmia analysis, Pulmonary/Laboratory/ Radiologic/EKG interpretations, etc. 2. Knowledge and operational skills are necessary to assist with special procedures or operate technological equipment such as: external pacer, use of compartmental pressure measure, minidriver drill, precipitous deliveries, and cardiac monitoring, EKG, phlebotomy. 3. Knowledge of growth and development necessary for the emergency care and treatment of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
