Academic Level III - State of the Art Setting

Fort Hood, TX - Practice Otolaryngology Surgery in an Academic Level III Trauma center and Hospital that is state-of-the-art, serving military members and their families as a civilian physician. You will work alongside three (3) other Otolaryngologists with a call of 1:4 (every 4th night and every fourth weekend). Call is not in-house but you must be able to responds by phone within 10 minutes and when necessary, provide consultation and/or assistance at the hospital within 30 minutes. Typically you will work 5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days per week. You will see a broad range of cases including Otology, Nose and Paranasal Sinuses, Head & Neck, Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Procedures, Maxillofacial & Head and Neck Trauma, Bronchoesophalogy, and Laser Surgical Procedures. In addition to your clinical duties, you will have the opportunity to provide clinical education and instruction to Otolaryngology Surgery Residents and PA students rotating through the Otolaryngology Surgery Service and, you will be encouraged to attend Grand Rounds, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other professional activities. You'll be practicing at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center - www.hood-meddac.army.mil/ - a modern healthcare facility with multiple clinics and medical services situated in the beautiful "hill and lake country" near Killeen, Texas. "Team Darnall" as the Medical Center staff is called, consists of 2,500 Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians, contractors, and volunteers. On an average day, CRDAMC staff members fill 5,000 prescriptions, conduct 3,867 outpatient visits, perform 26 surgeries, deliver seven newborns, treat 170 patients in the emergency room, and admit 31 new patients to the facility. You'll see a diverse mix of patients and work as an independent contractor with malpractice paid by the government.
