Intensive Care Unit

The Unit Based Educator is responsible for providing orientation and clinical and didactic instruction to nursing and non-nursing staff. Plans, delivers and evaluates general nursing unit orientation

Provides leadership and cooperative support in developing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Clinical Education Program or Education and Staff Development department.

- Ensures that the educational needs of staff are identified, planned for and implemented.
- Develops/implements unit-based didactic and clinical orientation and training for new personnel.
- Supervises preceptorship and mentoring of new Registered Nurses.
- Assesses/develops unit based competencies.
- Delivers unit-based education to meet identified needs of staff.
- Completes activity reports, needs assessments, within specified timeliness. Action plans are developed, implemented and evaluated quarterly as measured by observation, feedback and audit.

- Provides consulting services to assigned areas.
- Train and develop new staff.
- Assist in staff retention, developing existing staff.
- Work closely and collaboratively with other unit based and network educators to provide needed resources.
- Serve as clinical consultants in area of expertise.
- Develop and implement unit based staff development plans.

Qualifications:
Current AZ RN license. ACLS, BCLS required. Trauma Experience Required. 2-3 yrs as instructor. Education: BSN required; MSN preferred.
