The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas is pleased to invite applicants for a full time faculty position in the Department. The duties of the faculty member will include didactic and clinical instruction of oral and maxillofacial surgery residents and dental students and the joint management of Dental School, University Hospital and private patients. The Department�s residency has a broad practice which includes major facial trauma, tumor and reconstructive surgery, and a large volume of dento-alveolar surgery. The Residency Program also operates a very active dental implant program in concert with the Dental School and Prosthodontic Residency and an Orthognathic Surgery practice which includes participation by the School�s Orthodontic Residency and the OMS Department�s faculty Orthodontist. Department faculty maintain credentials in the University Hospital, Veteran�s Hospital, and three private hospital systems in the county. The new faculty�s distribution of duties will be determined by their experience, interests, and Departmental needs. Opportunities for advancement in areas of academic administration are anticipated. Applicants with scholarly and research interests are encouraged. Applicants for the position should have a Dental Degree recognized by the Commission on Dental Education of the American Dental Association or equivalent foreign BDS or DDS training and must have successfully completed advanced training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at an accredited institution. Applicants must be ABOMS Board Certified or an eligible and active candidate for certification and should be eligible for dental licensing in the state of Texas. All faculty participate in and receive salary augmentation through the Dental School�s faculty practice plan.
