Title:
Maternal
& Fetal Medicine
Location:
Fort
Worth, Texas
Description:
Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at The
University of North Texas Health Science Center at
Fort Worth is looking for a BE/BC Maternal Fetal Medicine
Physician.
Compensation is a competitive salary guarantee with potential for departmental bonus. The social, professional and medical-legal environment of the area is very attractive. Full Benefits also include a yearly supplement of $5000 for CME/licensing, paid vacation and holidays, access to group health, life and disability insurance. This expanding department of Obstetrics & Gynecology presently includes 50 full-time providers, consisting of 19 board certified OB/GYN physicians, 18 Nurse Practitioners, 5 nurse midwives, 2 Gyn/Onc, 2 REI, 2 Uro/gyn, 1 PA, and 1 MFM sub-specialist. The long term goals include expansion to at least three MFMs and possibly a fourth with the anticipated growth of the community at 4-7% per year and the resultant increase in obstetrical/perinatal demand. Fort Worth, TX is presently the fastest growing community and with over a 600,000 population, the demand is only increasing. The physical facilities include the JPS teaching hospital, presently a licensed 459 bed facility, though expanding, the JPS Health Center for Women, the UNT-HSC medical campus, and peripheral community clinics throughout the Fort Worth area. JPS has more than 6,500 deliveries each year. Additionally, there are over 10,000 OB triage visits and 30,000 outpatient clinic visits. A general OB/GYN is in-house 24/7 with the MFM on pager call only. When out of town for any reason, a perinatal group at an adjacent community hospital covers in that capacity. As the MFM department grows, this call would be shared by the number of MFMs within the department. There is NO in-house L&D call by the MFM, only consultations. Acute perinatal admissions and bedside activity are managed by the in-house OB/GYN and residency team with telephone communication to the MFM on call if questions in management arise. Presently the pager call is not additionally compensated, though seldom requires the MFM to be called into the hospital during the night. In-house MFM responsibilities include OB sonograms and procedures, in-house consults, and teaching/clinical rounds of the perinatal patients with the OB/GYN residents and medical students. The development of an in-hospital OB Diagnostic Department and in-house Perinatal Care Unit is also in the planning phase. Out-patient MFM responsibilities include the outpatient OB diagnostic center, staffing the OB/GYN residents for the perinatal clinic at the Health Center for Women, and reading outpatient satellite clinic sonograms and Ante-partum Testing studies. We are located right in the cultural district of Fort Worth! For the past six consecutive years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine one of the top medical schools in the nation for primary care. We pride ourselves in our collegiate and warm professional atmosphere. Both the working and social environment of the University in the Fort Worth area are attractions worth experiencing.
