Advanced Diagnostic Services, Expert Care and Leading Edge Research The PSF Metabolic Disorders Division is committed to diagnosing and caring for children with inborn metabolic diseases. Our treatment protocols and research are built upon the latest findings in our field, through a collaborative approach combining our expertise with other leading experts throughout the nation. The Division of Metabolic Disorders has a large, well established Clinic that continues to grow, and a state-of-the-art metabolic laboratory that allows accurate and rapid testing. The selected candidate will join an enthusiastic team of Metabolic physicians, Nurse / Case manager, Dietitian, Social Worker and Genetic counselor. This is a unique opportunity to become an expert in a rapidly growing and exciting field. SUMMARY: Provides genetic counseling to individuals and families at risk for metabolic hereditary disorders. Assess recurrence risks and recommends medical or genetic testing based on analysis of the risk, benefits and cost. Reviews implications with the patient and provides crisis intervention regarding unexpected genetic conditions. Coordinate follow up of babies with positive newborn screening results. Coordination of clinical and research testing for patients undergoing metabolic evaluation. Assist with coordination of Metabolic Clinic. This position requires: - M.S. in Genetic Counseling - ABGC (American Board of Genetic Counseling) Board Certified or Board Eligible - Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care though development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations.
