Length of Assignment: 1 ½ year contract

Location: We are filling positions at CFB Downsview in Toronto as well as at CFB Petawawa just outside of Pembroke.

Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of mental health nursing care within the Mental Health program of the Canadian Forces (CF) to CF members and to other entitled members as per the CF Spectrum of Care.

The Mental Health RN works within a comprehensive and integrated mental health care system. The RN functions as a member of a multidisciplinary mental health care team to provide services that promote wellness and provide timely interventions that support and empower CF members to achieve their highest level of functioning. The RN manages the delivery of nursing care using a patient-focused approach utilizing the skills of delegation and supervision for support staff.

Responsibilities include:

• Program Development, Delivery and Monitoring
• Resource Management
• Organizational Management
• Training and Development

Mandatory Qualifications:
• Certified with the Ontario College of Nurses
• Experience providing counseling and/or therapy and/or intervention to patients suffering from mental illness or psychosocial difficulties
• Experience working in an interdisciplinary team

Education Requirements:
• Must possess a nursing diploma or degree
• Certificate from a recognized college or university in Mental Health OR
• CNA certification in Psychiatry / Mental Health nursing OR
• Psychiatric undergraduate degree leading to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse license
