Job Details: Emergency Medical Services Department Director

 
Description: Are you looking for an Exciting new Leadership Role, join West Tennessee Healthcare at our Jackson Madison County General Hospital. This position will oversee the Operations of a High Volume Medical Center EMS located in the Heart of West Tennessee.
All three ambulance services (serving both ALS and BLS) support a County Owned Hospital with an annual Emergency Department volume of 85,000 - 86,000 visits per year that functions like a Level II Trauma Center with a 62 bed state of the art ED. Medical Center EMS is hospital based and reports to an Administrative Director of Emergency Services overseeing administrative operations for 1 of 4 Centers of Excellence within the Hospital System.

> 18,000 - 19,000 calls per year (55% Emergency / 45% Non-Emergency)

> 70 employees - 60 full time and 10 Registry

> 8 ALS units, 4 BLS Units, and 1 Mobile ICU

> Regional Medical Communication Center Dispatch Center (Medlink) serving West Tennessee

> Lifeline Medical Alert System and Service

Chester County
> 2600 - 2700 calls per year (70% Emergency / 30% Non-Emergency)

>12 full time employees

Benton County
> 3000 - 3100 calls per year (53% Emergency / 47% Non-Emergency)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for planning and directing all aspects of Medical Center EMS to include day to day operations of all EMS services (Madison, Chester, and Benton Counties). Responsibilities will include but not limited to Budget Management, Policy and Procedure Development and Monitoring, Human Resource Management, Equipment Allocation and Maintenance, as well as personal representation consistent with the Quality + and Organizational standards set forth by WTH

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

1. KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:
--Skills and proficiency in the principles, concepts and techniques in the technical field of emergency care plus management and supervisory skills. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a training program for Emergency Medical Technicians / Paramedics as approved by the State Division of Emergency Medical Services and an associate's or bachelor's degree in EMS management or related field.

2. EXPERIENCE:
--Knowledge of local hospitals and Medical Center EMS policies, procedures, standing orders, protocols, area geography, radio communication procedures, emergency and medical agencies, pharmacology, admixtures, solutions and concentrations as acquired through a minimum of 4-6 week orientation program and in the operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles as acquired through 2 weeks of orientation, plus five (5) years field experience as a paramedic and five years supervisory or management experience.

3. SPECIAL SKILLS:
--Personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database experience.

--Management and communication skills.


4. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
--Current state licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.

--Current Class D with F endorsement Tennessee driver license.

--Current Basic, Advanced and Pediatric Advanced Life Support card from American Heart Association or equivalent.

--Current BTLS or PHTLS certification preferred or can be acquired within 1 year of employment
