Named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals: Performance Improvement Leaders of 2007, placing the hospital in the top 3.5 percent of hospitals studied throughout the United States, which was released to news organizations via Thomson Reuters. With over 120 physicians on staff, the hospital offers such specialties as (partial list) interventional cardiology, nephrology, urology, pulmonary critical care, hospitalists, plastic and general surgery, neurology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, oncology, psychiatry, dermatology, ENT, orthopaedics, pathology, and podiatry. Patient survey responses between October 2006 through September 2007 indicate quality of care, strong customer service, and hospital accommodations all exceeded national and statewide results! No managed care, all fee for service which is outstanding for physicians. Physicians and hospital serve a nine county area featuring almost 220,000 people. We are THE hospital for these families. Many doctors do outreach clinics which generates referrals to other physicians on staff and to the hospital. There is a state run malpractice insurance fund. Our quality measures continue to exceed regional and national hospitals of similar size. Medical staff policy, no more than 10 days call a month, unless you want more. Currently all 130 rooms are private. Future construction will increase that by over 100 more private rooms. Also under construction is a medical office building. In the future there are plans to put a fifth floor on the hospital, along with a new helicopter pad. Last year unveiled the Mercy Regional Heart Institute.
