Description: Beaufort Delta Health & Social Services Authority
The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PCNP) will provide comprehensive health assessment, make diagnoses and develop care plans within the nurse practitioners scope of practice. The PCNP and family physicians will collaborate as providers of primary care to individuals, families and the community as a whole. In addition, the PCNP provides clinical nursing leadership within the primary community care regional team.

The PCNP will provide comprehensive nursing care to clients including: health promotion, illness and injury prevention, supportive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative care. The successful incumbent will be required to collaborate with the communities to increase the capacity for self-care and direction as an educator, leader, researcher and advanced clinical practitioner. Within the overlapping area of practice, the PCNP will perform primary care services for acute illness and injuries and stable chronic health problems commonly encountered in primary care, including: diagnosis, ordering and interpreting selected diagnosis tests, and therapeutics (selecting, recommending, prescribing and monitoring the effectiveness of selected drugs and interventions).

Typically the knowledge, skills and abilities would be attained through the successful completion of an advanced Nursing Degree, a certificate as a Nurse Practitioner and 2 years of directly related nursing experience.

Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience will be considered.

The salary starts at $46.02 per hour (approximately $89,739 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,088.

A job offer is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal record check.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a medical clearance.
