GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: responsible for delivering patient care to geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients in the acute setting while directing/guiding patient teaching, and maintaining standards of professional nursing. Functions as a leader within the healthcare team utilizing sound decision making skills and the House Supervisor or Nurse Director for problem solving. Responsible for carrying through with the planning, organizing, direction, and controlling the clinical practice and associate management functions for assigned periods in the hospital setting. Any RN candidate must support the goals of the organization. Any RN candidate must engage in conflict resolution with professionalism, accept & incorporate constructive feedback from peers/supervisors. Flexibility in scheduling with the requirement of being able to work all shift patterns including weekends, holidays, and assigned on-call shifts is vital for the department to maintain an exceptional level of services within the hospital and the community. EDUCATION: Graduate from a school of professional nursing (AND or BSN) with a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado State Board of Nursing. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 1 year of service. PALS certification required within 2 years of service. EXPERIENCE: CPMC prefers one year of professional nursing experience in an acute hospital setting. LICENSURE: Possession of a valid, current Colorado license as approved by the Colorado State Board of Nurse Examiners. Continued employment is contingent upon passing State Board examination and becoming fully licensed in the state of Colorado and maintenance of professional licensure is expected. SKILLS: Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organization policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and use of precautions to ensure a safe work environment. Demonstrate skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Demonstrates effective skills in oral and written communications with assertive and collaborative communications utilizing interdepartmental resources. Assumes the role of patient and family advocate, identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply organizational guidelines and procedures. Basic computer skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information. LOCATION: Fort Morgan is an hour drive from Denver on Interstate 76, just 90 miles east of the Rocky Mountains. Fort Morgan, population 14,000, has thrived on the eastern plains of Colorado since it was established in 1884. Pawnee Buttes National Grasslands, a 30-minute drive north, is a hiker's and photographer's paradise, and Jackson State Park and Reservoir offers boating, water skiing and fishing. The city of Fort Morgan supports a strong city recreation program, including a challenging 18-hole municipal golf course. The 77-acre Riverside Park has playgrounds, horseshoe pits, skating rink, swimming pools, fitness trails, duck ponds, and facilities for volleyball, basketball, and baseball, all adjacent to a 240-acre natural area with walking trails.
