Job Summary: This position is the physician leader responsible for the direction and oversight of all medical operations. This position�s responsibilities include: ensuring that clinics/departments meet or exceed quality of care and fiscal performance standards; ensuring the clinic/department operates within established budgets, maintaining effective communications among physicians/providers and other key staff; promoting quality medical care; developing and implementing plans for growth in both the physician network and scope of services; and developing effective business initiatives to ensure profitability. Essential Duties: Understand, support, and implement the mission of Catholic Health Initiatives to deliver health care to those in need. Provide effective leadership and business management. Work in conjunction with area hospital executives to develop and implement business plans to achieve organizational and regional goals. Ensure that the health care needs are identified and met. Develop effective relationships with specialist community and with hospital-based specialists to develop strategic initiatives in support of organizational goals. Provide input into strategic planning effort and into the refinement of the business plan as appropriate. Monitor progress toward achievement of goals and objectives (including productivity and budget goals) and regularly report findings to all physicians and staff. Develop the budget in conjunction with senior management. Help develop best practices that become our standards for care. Ensure that the region/department meets or exceeds those quality standards, including patient satisfaction standards. Promote and support organizational initiatives designed to improve quality of care and increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Provide mentoring and support to promote development of their leadership competencies and achievement of their business and fiscal performance objectives. Develop a retention strategy to improve the competencies of all staff employed in the region. Set clear performance expectations for Administrator/Managers monitoring outcomes and implement corrective action. Perform annual performance appraisal for Clinic Medical Directors, with input from Clinic Administrators/Managers, supervisors, clinic staff, and physicians/providers. Oversee all human resource performance issues using resources and assets to optimize performance and a commitment to excellence. Ensure that recognized problems are addressed in a timely and effective manner. Act as communications link for physicians to inform and share information to enhance performance. Practice medical specialty part-time. Pursue ongoing management CME opportunities. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine and completed residency required. Course work in business management techniques preferred. Experience: Five years of physician practice. Experience in development and administration of functions such as credentialing and privileging, monitoring and improvement of clinical quality, and clinical protocols. License/Certification: Current, valid state medical license. Board Certification. BLS required.
