The Department of Medicine in the University of Alabama at Birmingham's School of Medicine seeks an experienced academic medical Rheumatologist with a demonstrated record of sustained extramural funding to lead and expand its Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. The successful candidate should be board certified in Rheumatology and have evidence of a national and international reputation in the field. With over 28 faculty, a research budget of $35M/year, and an outstanding fellowship program, the Division works closely with and is a key member of the UAB Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Autoimmunity Center. The Division has exceptional strengths in a broad array of clinical areas including RA, SLE, vasculitis, scleroderma, and osteoporosis. The Division has superb investigators in each of these areas as well as in outcomes research and in basic studies of immunology, autoimmunity, and genetics. UAB has outstanding infrastructure for clinical and basic research and particularly strong programs in genetics, outcomes research and basic immunology. This appointment will be at the full professor level, tenured. An endowed chair is available for the successful candidate, along with support for program development. UAB seeks a leader with a known record of academic accomplishment; creative vision to shape the future of this outstanding and growing division's clinical programs and activities in translational, patient-oriented, and basic research; dedication to clinical and research excellence; ability to work collaboratively with the leadership of the Department of Medicine, the Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, and Autoimmunity Center and interdisciplinary programs, and the UAB Health System; and dedication to support the Division's faculty in its mission of education, research and service relative to Immunology and Rheumatology.
