The BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to deliver a range of cancer services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates five regional cancer centres in the Fraser Valley, Kelowna, Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Abbotsford with a sixth centre scheduled to open in Prince George in 2012. The BC Cancer Research Centre conducts research into the causes and cures for cancer. Assessment Module Leader Temporary Full Time until September 2009 Radiation Therapy/Assessment BC Cancer Agency - Vancouver Island Centre This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished professional to provide leadership to all patient care activities within the module, and assume responsibility for administrative activities as well as compliance with provincial programs and professional standards. Working closely with the Treatment and Planning Module Leaders to identify process improvement opportunities including data collection, analysis and improvement implementation, you will provide team leadership and supervision through mentoring and coaching. Your mandate will involve participation in the planning, implementation and/or evaluation of quality improvement activities and research to ensure service optimization. You will also identify patient care and process issues, and provide guidance in conjunction with the Regional Professional Practice Leader, Nursing, the Directors of Clinical Operations for the Radiation Therapy and Systemic Therapy programs, to nursing staff, and patients and families within the cancer centre to standardize and improve the care processes. This role demands a competent, confident and highly motivated health care professional with demonstrated leadership and team building skills. You must have a Bachelor of Nursing degree, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CNRBC), and current CPR certification (Level C). Experience or training as an oncology/chemotherapy nurse is preferred although candidates with limited or no oncology experience are also encouraged to apply. You have at least three years' recent related experience, two years of which were gained in a supervisory or leadership role. Some management or supervisory courses or training would be beneficial.
