SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Therapists are professionals who provide services to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status due to injury, disease or other causes. The therapist integrates evaluation, diagnosis, rehab prognosis and intervention to attain optimal functional outcomes and address orders per divisional standards.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Requires current license in the state of Maine, and knowledge of therapy techniques at a level acquired through completion of entry level academic program approved by a national organization.

2. Requires creative thinking, effective planning, ability to recognize change, report, and record pertinent information.

3. Requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changes in schedule and patient needs.

4. Requires familiarity with division policies, procedures, equipment, materials and work routines at a level generally acquired during one to three months on-the-job orientation.

5. Requires interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients and an interdisciplinary health care team.

6. 24 months of clinical experience at MMC for new hires with 8 months or less of clinical experience, 12 months of clinical experience at MMC for new hires with 9 months or more of clinical experience.
