Job Details: SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

A Nurse Anesthetist is a professional anesthesia provider who administers inhalational agents and any drugs, including narcotics to provide adequate, safe anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic procedures in consultation with an anesthesiologist operating under the anesthesia care team concept.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine, and successfully completed a course for Nurse Anesthesia at an accredited school. Must be board certified as a Nurse Anesthetist by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

2. Comprehensive understanding of all procedures and equipment used to administer anesthesia to various age groups.

. Analytical ability to prepare/participate in the anesthesia plan.

4. Ability to closely monitor patient?s condition and interpret data from various monitors during surgery.

5. Ability to assist in lifting/transporting patients.

6. Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on a variety of anesthesia equipment.
