in Nation • Established from a need to provide quality healthcare to the citizens of eastern North Carolina, the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) at East Carolina University consistently ranks nationally in family medicine, primary care and rural medicine. News & World Reports) • In only three decades, BSOM also serves as a leader in specialty training and research in cardiovascular and robotic surgery, diabetes, cancer and pediatrics. • Serving a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina, the current family medicine facility is outdated, and can no longer meet the clinical care and training needs of the BSOM. • The new proposed Family Medicine Center will be a state-of-the-art facility with more than triple the space currently available. • Patient access to care will increase by 30% and will allow for high quality healthcare to the region’s population by offering community assessment and educational programs on an outreach basis. • The Family Medicine Center will provide better, more efficient facilities to meet the training needs of medical students and family medicine residents. Director of Interventional Pulmonology
The Brody School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critcal Care Medicine is seeking a Director of Interventional Pulmonology to join our expanding academic group at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a tenure track or fixed-term appointment. Recruitment is driven by an expanding medical campus and development of a new cardiothoracic institute. There is currently an active IP program with an outstanding regional referral practice, bronchoscopy facilities (both in-patient and office) and a collaborative thoracic surgical group. This position will be a part of the development of a 'proceduralist service', future development of an IP fellowship, growing medical simulation lab, and expansion of all activities in a multidisciplinary lung cancer group. Candidates graduating from an IP fellowship program are preferred, but those with clinical IP experience will be considered. The division is clinically productive, highly respected and actively involved in the training of medical students, residents and pulmonary/critical care fellows through our affiliation with a single 761-bed tertiary care hospital (Pitt County Memorial Hospital), part of a 5 hospital University Health Systems in Eastern NC. Located in a coastal college town with rapid growth, the Division is in an explosive growth phase, fueled by expansion in the medical complex and added emphasis on translational research.
