Unit Description: NICU Level III

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 65-bed unit (the largest in the region). In addition to conventional ventilation, we have oscillator, high frequency and nitric oxide capabilities. We also just implemented body cooling on the unit. We care for all infants requiring intensive care including extremely premature infants and all surgical cases (except major open-heart surgery). Our air and ground transport team is available 24/7 for any hospital requesting a transfer to our unit. The all RN staff is NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certified and many are NCC (National Certification Credentialing) certified in their area of specialty. There is a Neonatologist in house 24/7

Position Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, and according to hospital policies and procedures, the staff nurse asesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned NICU patient.

Skills/Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:
-Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Preferred:
-Minimum of 1 year of NICU experience

LICENSED/CERTIFICATION:

Required:
-Registered Nurse License from the State of Texas
