Our 426-bed research & teaching facility offers the latest technologies in medical treatment. The Clinical Nurse Educator is a department based position and will coordinate all education and training activities for the unit.

The Clinical Nurse Educator operates as a key member of the department responsible for education and training activities for the staff. This Educator role will work in the Cardiac Inpatient Critical Care area. This department focuses on neuro, vascular and cardiac patients and will also be adding stable vents. This position reports into the Department Director and will collaborate with leadership and department representatives to assure competent staff performance to promote quality patient outcomes. Responsibilities will include; design and delivery of educational programs for clinical personnel, identification of problems or deficiencies in performance and overall staff knowledge of patient care, research of subject matter related to problems/deficiencies and development of educational activities/programs based on identified needs. This role will also conduct program evaluation and appropriate revisions to meet ongoing learner needs. Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom and clinical orientation. Provide individualized clinical orientation. Serves as a responsible and accountable clinical expert, role model, educator, and resource facilitating professional development of staff.

Requirements:

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing or health related field required. Masters degree in Nursing, health related field or education required highly preferred can complete after first 5 years of hire.
Current RN licensure in Michigan or eligible to receive.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration required
Five years professional nursing experience with a minimum of three years clinical nursing in acute care setting in critical care.
Teaching experience preferred.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively when teaching and consulting in collaboration with program participants and management staff.
Analytical skills necessary for assessing need for clinical research, for project management, for developing appropriate teaching materials based upon evaluation of training and educational needs, and assessing program participant's progress towards appropriate outcomes.
