Department Unit 4C - Geriatric Assessment/Rehabilitation Salary Range $30.80 - $40.43 as per UNA Collective Agreement Hours Of Work 10 x 7.75 hr shifts in an 4 wk shift cycle (Days/Evenings-current shift rotation provided for information only) Duties/ Qualifications/ Other Information Duties: Provides safe effective patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for the frail elderly geriatric patients. Effectively coordinates the multiple care requirements of an older person with family and community health care agencies. As per Registered Nurse position description. Qualifications: Current CPR (Basic Rescuer) certification required. Excellent communication skills with sensory/cognitively impaired older adults. Practical knowledge of adaptations necessary for functional limitations common to frail older adults. Ability to respond holistically to the complexities of medical, psychological and spiritual needs that often present concomitantly in the elderly population. Current knowledge in Geriatrics. Certificate Program in Geriatrics is desired. Geriatric rehabilitation or acute medical background preferred. FIM certification preferred. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
