Unit Description: Labor and Delivery Labor and Delivery consists of 8 LDRs, 3 triage rooms, 3 ante partum rooms and 2 Cesarean Section rooms. This area is staffed in accordance with AWHONN guidelines. All Labor and Delivery nurses are NRP, CPR and ACLS certified, and all take a fetal monitoring course every two years. The unit averages 15 inpatient and outpatient encounters per day and between 180 and 220 deliveries per month. Type of Equipment used: Sonosite Ultrasound, Fetal Monitors, Triple pumps, Birthing Beds. Types of procedures done: - Vaginal deliveries, C/Sections, PP D&C's Unit prefers 1 year Labor and Delivery experience. Opportunities for new grad candidates may occasionally be available Position Description: Responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients with a broad range of illnesses. The RN is involved in direct and indirect patient care. The RN provides direction to licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and other non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department. Skills/Requirements A. Current licensure in Texas as a RN. B. Previous experience in clinical nursing preferred. C. Certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. D. Computer skills preferred. E. Prior L&D experience preferred. Click Apply to Job!
