The BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to deliver a range of cancer services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates five regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and Abbotsford, with a sixth centre scheduled to open in Prince George in 2012. The BC Cancer Agency's Research Centre conducts research into the causes and cures for cancer. BCCA is an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) which plans, manages and evaluates specialty and province-wide health care services across BC. Northern Health (NH) is responsible for the delivery of health services across Northern British Columbia, including acute care, public health, home and community care, mental health and addictions, and community cancer services. Chief Project Officer Northern Cancer Control Strategy Temporary Full-time Prince George, British Columbia The Northern Cancer Control Strategy is a comprehensive cancer control program designed to meet the unique needs of northern B.C. The strategy includes developing a regional cancer centre in Prince George, as well as overseeing a range of prevention, detection, and cancer care services that are community-based, ideally to provide appropriate services as close to home as possible. Designed to ultimately reduce the impact of cancer on the north, this comprehensive program will incorporate overall health strategies, preventive and primary care, and aims to bring equitable, appropriate services to the residents of northern B.C. As the Chief Project Officer you will provide overall project management leadership supported by a Project Management Office. Reporting directly to the President of the BC Cancer Agency and the CEO of the Northern Health Authority, you will be responsible for successfully implementing the cancer centre and cancer care initiative for Northern British Columbians. Your credentials include diverse and extensive project management experience, including managing complex capital projects, preferably publicly funded and/or public-private partnership arrangements. You will have over 10 years experience in a senior role in the health sector, ideally leading the development and implementation of health delivery programs. You have a proven track record at managing multiple competing projects to achieve high quality outcomes that exceed stakeholder expectations - with a particular emphasis on fiscal management and meeting timelines. You have successfully managed teams requiring strong and effective business controls. Your proven communication and negotiation skills are complemented by the ability to motivate the PMO team and key stakeholders. Able to set and maintain competing priorities through effective management and delegation, your strong customer focus allows you to foster co-operation between diverse operational groups and skill sets.
