Description:
Provides general and regional anesthesia,
sedation, analgesia, IV and airway management under
normal and emergency conditions in hospital or clinic
setting.
Marlboro Park Hospital, a 102-bed facility, has 230 employees. With more than 25 medical staff members, specialties represented by physicians at the facility include: Cardiology, Family Practice, General Surgery, Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Obstetrics, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Urology. The facility offers a full range of services including 24-hour emergency care, imaging, cardiac rehabilitation and testing, diabetes education, endoscopy, geriatric psychiatry, an intensive care unit, laboratory services, a medical/surgical unit, outpatient surgery, physical and respiratory therapy, women's and children's services and more. Description: Prepares patients for surgical procedures. Functions as essential component of the surgical obstetric and emergency room departments. Provides anesthesiology services and consultations throughout the hospital. Performs patient assessments. Reads and evaluates written information such as admission reports, physicians' evaluation and diagnosis, and laboratory tests. Interviews and observes patients to ascertain medical history and current condition; reviews patients' records; takes vital signs, assesses current condition and pain level. Administers appropriate injections and medications. Monitors medication efficacy. Assures patient safety and stability and takes effective course of action. Supports the patients' physical and emotional stability; explains plan of care, procedures and treatments to patients and family. Confers and consults with physicians and support staff as needed; collaborates with other professionals to provide continued care outside the limitations of the clinic. Performs outreach services to educate residents and allied health care professionals on anesthesiology issues. Updates and maintains a variety of files, records, charts and other documents. Maintains accurate patient anesthesiology records; charts documentation for administrative purposes and reimbursement of services; records orders and progress notes in patient charts and maintains records. Performs quality assurance assessments. Maintains a clean work environment including adequate supplies and upkeep of service unit and equipment. Provides feedback to the providers on quality of patient care delivered. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field Experience: One (1) year of critical/intensive care experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Certifications / Licenses: Credentials from accredited anesthesia training program. Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist is required -May occasionally be exposed to infectious diseases. -May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. -May be called out to work off-shift.
