The Advanced Polysomnographic Tech performs standard and complex polysomnographic recordings, understands the technical aspects of equipment used in monitoring, recognizes parameters used in recording and is able to hand score records and generate complete reports in a reasonable amount of time. Performs NPSG/MSLT and CPAP testing on adolescent, adult and geriatric patients at Norton Audubon Hospital and, infant and pediatric patient population at the Kosair Childrens Hospital. The employee uses department and hospital-wide policies and procedures during the provision of patient care. The employee is accountable for improving job knowledge and skills. This position coordinates technical support and is responsible for directing the work of the shift.
Presents a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff.
Assists in maintaining a work area free from hazards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: *Member of Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
*Must be a registered polysomnographic technologist, 2 years sleep medicine experience.
*Must be able to act independently and make appropriate judgements within legal scope of practice regarding patient care
*Accuracy and Effect of Errors: Requires above average degree of accuracy. Errors could cause serious consequences to patient.
*Responsibility for Personal Contacts: Must be tactful and courteous as well as have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Should maintain a good working relationship with Diagnostic Imaging and all hospital employees and physicians.
*Responsibility for Supervision and/or Administration: Responsible for supervision of sleep studies/ technique.
*Responsibility for Confidential Material, Information, Money: Works with confidential patient diagnosis and test results.
