Position Characteristics: The successful candidate will teach
undergraduate courses in public health and graduate courses in the MPH Program. Graduate advisement will include student projects and theses in the area of Health Services Management with emphasis on Health Care Finance, Information Technology, or Human Resources Management. Specific assignments are dependent upon department needs.
The successful candidate may be called upon to teach in a distance education mode and will be encouraged to develop web- enhanced and/or web-based instruction. Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and college.
Academic Preparation: An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Public Health or Health Services Management or
equivalent is preferred. Candidates nearing completion of the
doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for continued employment, the doctorate must be completed by 6/30/2011. For appointment as Associate Professor, a candidate must have an established record of teaching excellence at the university level and scholarly research and publications appropriate to the rank.
Teaching Or Other Experience: Candidates with successful Health Services Management teaching at the university level are preferred.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to, or potential for, teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level. Successful grant proposal writing and the ability to attract external funding are highly desirable. Active participation or
leadership roles in the American Public Health Association, the Society for Human Resources Management, or the American College of Health Care Executives is also highly desirable. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
