JOB SUMMARY:

The Biomedical Engineering Technologist is part of a team, which provides a full range of biomedical engineering services to designated areas of the hospital for a wide variety of diagnostic, therapeutic, life support, computer, network and laboratory devices and ancillary products. These services include participating in incident investigations, hazard follow-up, safety and performance assurance through scheduled safety inspections, maintenance and repair of equipment, training for clinical staff, capital and non-capital purchasing, device modification and development, and acting as a resource to clinical staff. Provision of these services allows the safe, efficient and effective utilization of the medical technology in the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation for a recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology.

Eligibility for certification with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia as an Applied Science Technologist after 2 years in the position

May require a valid BC drivers license and use of a personal vehicle for travel.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
