We are looking for a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist and invite you to be part of the evolution taking place at UMC of El Paso.

The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist performs a wide range of cardiac interventional procedures with X-rays and angiograms and assists the cardiovascular physician by inserting small catheters through needles for the purpose of diagnosing cardiac disease and heart functionality.

The Technologist assists in the development and monitoring of department-specific systems and in the coordination of activities that improve the quality of patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Utilizes experience in the development of a performance improvement program for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and is familiar with data analysis for the purpose of benchmarking.

Candidates must be knowledgeable with Joint Commission (TJC) and Radiology standards.

Work Experience:

Must have five years work experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory performing a variety of cardiac interventional procedures/tests.

License/Registration/Certification:
Current Emergency Medical Technician, RCIS, or other certification(s) applicable to Cardiac Catheterization Technology preferred.
Current CPR training.

Education and Training:

Associates degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field required. Bachelors degree preferred.
Highly trained in Percutaneous Coronary Interventions.
Five years of comparable work experience in interventional cardiology lab may be substituted for Associates degree.

Skills:

Possesses critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Possesses effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist.
Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
