Chaplain – Full-Time Spiritual Care
Reporting to the Manager, Spiritual Care, the Chaplain will provide spiritual care and counsel for patients, partners, families and staff strengthening the commitment to holistic care by attention to the human spiritual dimension, both for people of faith and for those who have no religious affiliation or practice. The Chaplain will be skilled in the practice of direct patient care and as a member of inter-professional clinical teams. In addition, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to enrich our systemic approach to the Human Spirit at LHSC. Spiritual Care is working to harness the potential of the Human Spirit both for healing in clinical relationships and for the enrichment of our organizational and community relationships. Spiritual Care places a strong emphasis on response to staff needs, supporting staff as they build spiritual resilience and develop their ability to respond to patients spiritual needs.
Rate of Pay: $29.628/hour to $37.036/hour
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours of work per week
Qualifications:
Graduation from an Associated Theological Seminary (ATS) or equivalent preparatory program; Masters level in Theology or recognized equivalent
Clinical Pastoral Education with a minimum of two units at an Advanced level preferably with Specialist certification from the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education
Ordination, commissioning or endorsement by ones faith group
Minimum 5 years experience and demonstrated proficiency in providing spiritual care in institutional and community setting
Screening and approval by Ontario Multifaith Council on Spiritual and Religious Care (OMCSRC)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and presentation software is an asset
Advanced awareness of the various models of spiritual care and the ability to apply them to specific practice contexts
Proven ability to build strong, respectful relationships in an interdisciplinary team and with clients
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
