Great Child Psychologist Opportunity!
Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:30 A - 5:00 P for the most part, with 1 Evening per week required. Theclincinan will work in the Merrifield BH Facility.
Child Psychologist Position - requires Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, a minimum of 5 yearsexperience as well as licensure in Virginia.
Preferences: experience and demonstrated skill in working with very young children, including thosepresenting with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Independent practice experience, flexibility, and astutediagnostic skills will be very important. The clinician will work with young children, families andadolescents. Skill and knowledge in the areas of: acuity, crisis assessment/ management will beimportant. Success in this position necessitates the ability to work independently and collaboratewell with psychiatrists, pediatric staff and other therapists in the provision of individaul, family& case management services.
PURPOSE: The Child Psychologist evaluates and treats patients referred by mental health providers,conducts family therapy, consults with primary care providers regarding mental health aspects offamily and patient management and performs psychological testing.This position consistently supports compliance and Kaiser Permanente�s Code of Conduct by adheringto federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements and KaiserPermanente�s policies and procedures.In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating servicebehaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission aswell as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistentlydemonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior andculturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providersand vendors.
Accountabilities: (List of 4 - 6 primary responsibilities, not activities, in their order ofimportance.
1) Evaluates and diagnoses the mental health of children and adults, utilizing psychological tests where appropriate.
2) Provides brief intensive treatment for children and families as well as ongoing group and supportive therapy in appropriate cases.
3) Determines need for child psychiatric referrals in consultation with pediatricians and mental health providers.
4) Consults regularly with the mental health staff and pediatric primary care providers on patient care issues.
5) Maintains liaison with community resources for child mental health services.
6) Assists in implementing mental health in-service educating programs for medical staff. Participates in staff development meetings and quality-or-care activities on a regular basis.
7) Performs other related duties as directed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS -
Relevant Years of Experience:
- Five years of post PhD or PsyD (Doctorate in Psychology) Clinical experience required.
- Experience with Children required.
- Basic computer literacy and work processing skill and experience preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency with a range of clinical approaches to care required.
- Knowledge and experience with Psychological testing required.
- Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
Education and/or Classes:
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology required.
License, Certification and/or Designation:
- Must be licensed in the appropriate jurisdiction.
- National Provider Identification (NPI) required.
