Reporting to the Director of Dental, the Dentist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, counseling and performing dental treatment for patients.

Summary
Reporting to the Director of Dental, the Dentist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, counseling and performing dental treatment for patients. Under the direction of the Director of Dental, the Dentist will participate in departmental and center wide activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*Provide reasonable and prudent dental care for CS-HHC patients. Treat patients and staff respectfully, courteously and appropriately
*Coordinate patient care with colleagues, case management staff and other agencies as necessary
*Educate patients on preventive health care and chronic disease management
*Practice appropriate follow-up and outreach to special needs patients
*Complete dental charting and coding in a timely manner
*Participate in supervision of assigned Dental Assistant
*Participate in staffing interviews and evaluations when necessary
*Participate in governmental or grant reviews when necessary
*Attend and contribute to dental/staff departmental meetings
*Contribute to grant applications/writing protocols as necessary

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of a Dental School recognized by the ADA Counsel on Dental Education. Dental Residency Program required. Current Connecticut Dental License and current narcotics license required. CPR Certification required.

Experience:Prior experience is preferred. New graduates can apply. Familiarity with Dentrix system is highly desirable.
Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of dental health care management and operations. Ability to multitask and maintain good communication with wide variety of staff. Ability to write reports and documents and deliver oral presentations. Interest in preventive dentistry, social consciousness, sensitivity to needs of community residents and the desire to work with and for disadvantaged persons. Excellent computer skills are necessary. Dentrix and/or electronic dental knowledge are highly recommended.
