Description
Under the guidance of a registered nurse, serves as a member of the healthcare team by providing assistance with caring for the Emergency department neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population.
Completes basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care.
Supports educational structure provided by registered nurse.
Documents tasks, and baseline data collection onto medical record expected.
Must be able to cross-train as a Unit Secretary.
Maintain supplies for the emergency department.
Performs EKGs, IV insertions, foley insertions, lab draws, splints as directed by the RN.
Must be able to work with healthcare team in providing quality care for patients presenting to the emergency department.
Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for the Emergency Department patient.
Treat all patients and families with dignity, respect, and appreciation of their lifestyles, language, religion, and culture.
Support and promote an environment that is conducive to quality Customer Service.
Apply the identified process for common emergencies.
Assists with flow throughout the department by transporting patients as directed by RN.
Qualifications
Job requirements include:
Current EMT or Paramedic license required
Will also consider a senior nursing student one year from graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current BCLS required. ACLS and PALS required within 3 months after hire
