MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST needed!
SALARY: $2726 - $3327 Approximate Monthly Equivalent; Paid Biweekly.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to high school graduation, with training in medical terminology/pathology and transcription AND one (1) year of experience comparable to a Medical Transcriptionist.
Typing or keyboard certificate of 45 net words per minute AND a medical transcription certificate for 45 net words per minute.

Applicants must submit a copy of their typing or keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of 45 net words per minute and return it with their completed application by the application filing deadline. Certificates must conform to testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission. Inquire at the Personnel Department reception counter about where to obtain a certificate.
FOLLOWING AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT, YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO POST OFFER MEDICAL AND DRUG SCREENING TESTS AT COUNTY EXPENSE.
ADMITTANCE TO EACH PHASE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL REQUIRE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTOGRAPH IDENTIFICATION. APPLICANTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO PRESENT PROPER IDENTIFICATION MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE TEST DATE.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made at Kern Medical Center. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Transcribes a variety of complex medical information; types a variety of medical reports correspondence and forms; proofreads finished material
Verifies accuracy of information upon completion of transcribed work
Distributes completed material for approval and placement in the patient´s medical record
Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate access to information for all internal and external customers and displays an ongoing commitment to quality
Operates a variety of automated office equipment, including but not limited to digital audio dictation system, microcomputer and printer, copy machine and electronic typewriter
Answers the telephone and screens calls
Re-records information for transcription
Contacts other hospital divisions or medical facilities regarding patient medical information
Periodically interacts with medical and clinical staff to advise and educate them on efforts to improve overall quality, accuracy and clarity of dictated clinical documentation
Other Functions:
Retrieves and updates patient records; files reports and cards.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Incumbents must have the ability to perform the Essential Functions of the job.
WRITTEN EXAM (Weight 100%): May include knowledge of medical terminology as used in an acute care hospital setting; proficiency in using English grammar and spelling; using computers and related software applications.
