In Alaska, there is a system of village clinics, rural hospitals and the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Individual, autonomous, Alaska Native health corporations operate the rural hospitals. The Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage is operated by a consortium of the Alaska Native health corporations in the state. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join the rural hospitals.
NP´s provide routine and emergency ambulatory and preventive care services during regularly scheduled hours in cooperation with other medical practitioners. These include: Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of routine illnesses (in adults and pediatric patients); management of chronic health problems; primary care for trauma cases, including suturing and casting; emergency care, including starting IV´s, establishing adequate airways, and managing CPR and shock; screening of patients; provides family planning and counseling services; provides routine physical examinations for work and school.
Holds a current Alaska License as a Nurse Practitioner or obtain prior to start. Knowledge and ability to perform effectively the above duties.
